New: Podcast series reaching out to pig producers worldwide

What is pig farming like in different countries? How do pork producers deal with new challenges? What can we learn from each other? Those types of questions are key in a brand new podcast series, the Real P3, which Pig Progress is happy to host.

The name of the podcast, the ‘Real P3’ refers to 3 essential elements coming together in swine production: Pigs, Producers and Problems. In the prologue episode, the why behind the series is discussed and various experts behind the podcast series introduce themselves.

The new podcast series is an initiative of Dr Casey Bradley, also a columnist at Pig Progress. She is supported by Philip van den Brink from the Netherlands, Willem Steyn from South Africa, and obviously Pig Progress, as every episode is going to be published there as well as on the podcast’s own website.

Swine nutrition technology expert Dr Casey Bradley is president of the Sunswine Group, based in Arkansas, United States. She used to be senior technical manager at DSM in North America, technical swine manager at Purina Animal Nutrition and AB Vista technical manager. She recently embarked on various new exciting online projects, the Real P3 being one of them.

Nutritionists from the Netherlands and South Africa

Philip van den Brink is a nutritionist from the Netherlands with many years in the swine business, currently in charge of the new company Nutrisign. He used to work for many years for Provimi (Cargill), after which he founded his own company Swinco, focused on swine nutrition. Since 2019 he started Nutrisign and got involved with the Real P3 podcast project. In the prologue podcast, he explains: “It is great to get something new started.”

Willem Steyn, born and raised in South Africa, started his career as a farm manager in a genetic multiplier farm. He spent various years travelling across the world, which made him interested in to see hands-on how farmers are doing it in different countries. Having returned to South Africa, he started his own company, called Swine Nutrition Management.

Pig Progress: Great addition to the portfolio

For Pig Progress, being able to bring regular podcasts is a great addition to the title’s multi-channel portfolio, which already includes regular farm visits. These provide readers and listeners with true insights what decisions are made on farms and why. From time to time, the intention is to contribute to the Real P3 podcast series ourselves as well, e.g. by adding an audio component to editorial our farm visits.

Over the next weeks, Pig Progress will regularly share new episodes of the Real P3 podcast series. Next week the Real P3 podcast will speak to Mihaela Angheluta in Denmark.
