Russia experiencing rapid rise of pork prices

The average price of pork in Russia in October 2014 was RUB 272.38/kg (USD $5.41) – 1.5% more than in the previous month, and 27.1% higher year-on-year, Russian media Soya News reported, referencing official statistical data.

As of 2nd December, 2014, this was an absolute price record in rubles.

Noteworthy, that despite rapid growth of pork prices in rubles, the price in dollars during the recent months remained almost the same, due to the rapid drop of the exchange rate of the Russian currency against the US dollar. Most experts today say that the price of pork at the market will continue rising in the coming months.
