Polish pork to Russia faces strict inspections

Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, has decided to impose strict inspections on Polish pork entering the country.

This follows the incident of Spanish pork marrow hidden in a consignment from Poland at the Belarusian border.

Media reports have said that the marrow comes from factories without export permits to countries in Russia’s customs union.

Earlier this month, Rosselkhoznadzor said that it has detected E. coli bacteria in Polish meat products. E.coli was discovered in frozen pork and beef products from the Zakłady Mięsne Carnis Koło Bronisław Rowecki SP J and Zakład Przemysłu Mięsnego Biernacki Sp. z o.o meat processing plants.

Poland is currently looking into this issue.
