Karsten Deibjerg Kristensen has decided to leave Danish Crown following recent structural changes. Kristensen joined Danish Crown thirteen years ago after the acquisition of Friland, of which he was and remained CEO.

Since then, Karsten Deibjerg Kristensen has been instrumental in strengthening Danish Crown’s position and building up sales in Denmark – sales of fresh meat, food-service as well as retail products. In recent years, he has contributed to establishing a strong position for Danish Crown in Sweden as manager of DC Nordic.

”I am sorry that Karsten has decided to seek new challenges. He has played an important role – both in making Danish Crown the largest organic slaughterhouse in Europe under the Friland name and in ensuring the continuous development of new products within a wide range of categories,” says Kjeld Johannesen, CEO of Danish Crown.

Kristensen’s departure comes in the wake of the decision to appoint a new Division Director of DC Pork, Danish Crown’s largest division.

”I have had thirteen exciting years with Danish Crown, but following the most recent organisational changes, I have decided to explore new opportunities. This is my own decision entirely, and one which I make with some regret. But if I’m going to do it, now is the right time,” says Kristensen.

For competitive reasons, Kristensen will be leaving his office at DC Nordic within the next few weeks. He will carry on as CEO of Friland until a new solution has been found, but will be assisting both Danish Crown and Friland as necessary until the end of April next year.
