Nuscience Group will invest in the coming three years in Drongen (Belgium) and Utrecht (the Netherlands) to build new state-of-the-art production facilities.
These investments are part of a re-organisation of the production set-up in the Benelux to increase costefficiency and to specialise the factories at the same time.
Nuscience Group produces premixes, concentrates and specialty ingredients on three locations in Belgium: Drongen, Baasrode and Willebroek (as Preconex), mainly for the Belgian and international markets. In Utrecht the production site is specialised in production of premixes, farm minerals and MervoBest.
The new facility in Drongen will be built on the same location, next to the existing plant and offices. This new facility will become the only production site in Belgium and will focus on the flexible production of premixes, piglet nutrition and specialty ingredients. Production at Baasrode and Willebroek will be closed.
In Utrecht Nuscience has acquired the Agrifirm Feed plant next to the current premix production factory. The purpose is to construct on this site a new premix and protein concentrates factory
focusing on maximum cost-efficiency. ‘This investment plan has started and will probably be finalised by end 2015’, says Patrick Keereman, CEO Nuscience Group. ‘We will bring 4 production sites together on 2 sites in order to increase efficiency and to specialise production where it is appropriate. Drongen will become the expertise centre for producing piglet feeds, piglet concentrates and specialty ingredients and of course also anything that comes out of Nutrition Sciences, our innovation department. For Utrecht we keep the focus on large volumes of premixes, farm minerals, concentrates and protected proteins.’
Nuscience Group produces and exports premixes, concentrates, young animal nutrition and specialty feed ingredients like Aromabiotic to over 60 countries in the world. It has own affiliates with production sites in Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Hungary, Ukraine, China and Russia. It recently announced also new investments in the Chinese facilities at Suzhou and Tianjin and the acquisition of Trouw Nutrition Környe in Hungary. ‘We have strong ambitions and are on track with our strategic plans,’ says Patrick Keereman. ‘The market is challenging but we are confident in our capabilities and the market.’
