Diet changes impact on hygiene protocols

Efficient pig production units must find the fine balance between stocking density to achieve economies of scale and keeping disease under control. In-feed antibiotics have been a way of preventing the build up of diseases, but with this option fast disappearing from Europe, the focus turns to improved hygiene systems in order to suppress disease and maintain profitability.
