Lallemand Animal Nutrition releases trial results of probiotic live yeast

Including a probiotic live yeast in pig diets can shorten the fattening period by 3 days and improve feed conversion ratio (by 2.6%), according to results from a year-long trial on 27,000 pigs in 66 batches where 32 batches were supplemented with the probiotic live yeast, Levucell SB (Saccharomyces cerevisiae boulardii CNCM I-1079) by Lallemand Animal Nutrition.

ITB-Climate launches new Air2-DS Pro heat exchanger

ITB-Climate has launched its Air2-DS Pro heat exchanger, designed to enable livestock farmers to reduce ammonia and particulate matter and heat, cool and ventilate energy efficiently in one solution. This heat exchanger reduces energy consumption by about 60% per year, according to the company. It is suitable for new and existing pig and poultry barns. 

Layn Natural Ingredients launches TruGro CGA for piglets

Layn Natural Ingredients has announced the European-region launch of TruGro CGA, a feed ingredient derived from stevia leaf. The product aims to address the challenges faced by swine producers in supporting the health and growth of piglets during the post-weaning period.

Ceva invests in new vaccine manufacturing plant

Ceva Animal Health has invested in European vaccine manufacturing with the construction of a new 7,000 sqm facility in Monor, Hungary, expanding the capacity of Ceva Phylaxia. Here, Ceva will produce fermentation-based multicomponent inactivated vaccines for animals. The plant is scheduled to start operations at the end of 2026. 

AgroVision and AgriSyst merge

Agricultural technology solutions company AgroVision is joining forces with agricultural software solution provider AgriSyst. With a presence in most European countries, the combined company will help farmers overcome the challenges posed by modern agriculture. The current management team of AgriSyst will take on leading roles in the joint company.

Emergent Solar Energy powers Indiana pork production with grant support

Commercial solar solutions provider based in the Purdue Research Park of West Lafayette, Emergent Solar Energy, has installed more than 1 megawatt of onsite solar capacity across Indiana pork farms in the last year, made possible through partial financing from the USDA Rural Energy for America Program grants.

DSM-Firmenich receives EU authorisation for HiPhorius and partners with Format Solutions

DSM-Firmenich has announce the approval of HiPhorius for sows of all Suidae species. The company says that HiPhorius is a new generation phytase that allows for more efficient phosphorous utilisation and faster more efficient removal of the potent antinutrient phytate. The company has also partnered with Format Solutions, a provider of integrated formulation and feed ERP software. The collaboration brings together Format Solutions’ formulation software with the life cycle assessment platform Sustell, and aims to empower customers to calculate and share their feed footprints.

Alltech 2024 US and European Harvest Analyses interim reports released

Alltech has released an interim report with the preliminary findings of its mycotoxin testing programme. In its 2024 European Harvest Analysis, samples of new-crop grains and forages collected from farms or animal feed production sites in 20 countries are tested. Corn samples from central and southern Europe are also tested in collaboration with SGS. In the Alltech 2024 US Harvest Analysis, the preliminary analysis of corn silage samples reveals a high increase in mycotoxin contamination compared to 2023, with all samples containing 2 or more mycotoxins.

Cargill publishes 2024 Impact Report

Cargill’s Fiscal Year 2024 Impact Report details the company’s progress in sustainability. Highlights include a US$100m investment in sustainability projects; a 15.8% reduction in emissions; the advancement of regenerative agriculture practices on 1.1m acres of N. American land since 2020, and; the delivery of more than 700,000 farmer trainings focused on sustainable agriculture practices. 

Veos Group acquires OvaInnovations’ activities

Veos Group has acquired the activities of OvaInnovations, a producer of inedible egg proteins. The company will now have production capabilities in the US. The acquisition aligns with the Actipro brand, Veos Group’s brand for functional proteins designed to support the feed and pet food industries. 

Bouwimpex Projects B.V. is now Dutch Farm Design B.V.
Bouwimpex Projects B.V. will continue under the name Dutch Farm Design B.V.. Under the new name, the company aims to continue to serve the agricultural sector with building solutions.

Hendrix Genetics and BHZP Renew Their Pork Partnership

Hendrix Genetics and German pig breeding company BHZP have renewed their distribution agreement for DB77 boars for an additional 5 years in the Spanish and Portuguese markets. This agreement extends the initial agreement signed in 2019, which established Hendrix Genetics as the distributor of this BHZP boar line to strategic customers in the Iberian Peninsula.

Perstorp Group appoints Ian Atterbury to lead Animal Nutrition

Perstorp Group has appointed Ian Atterbury joining as senior vice president of its Animal Nutrition business, effective 13 January 2025. Atterbury has over 30 years of experience in the animal nutrition industry. He has been working globally for the majority of his career and has a strong background in leading and growing animal nutrition business. He succeeds Aart Mateboer who retired earlier this year.
