Minitube boar semen extender reduces or eliminates antibiotics

Minitube‘s Androstar Premium extender supports long-term hypothermic storage of boar semen and inhibits bacterial growth without the use of antibiotics. The organic bactericidal substance contained in this semen extender naturally controls bacterial contamination, reducing or eliminating the need for antibiotics for certain contaminants.

Charoen Pokphand invests in new breeding farms in the Philippines

The Charoen Pokphand Group (CPF) is investing P10.55 billion to expand its hog business in the Philippines. Its subsidiary, CPF Philippines Corp., will build 20 new breeding farm projects across the country. The company will lease farms in 11 provinces to breed parent stock pigs. The weaned piglets will then be transferred to wean-finish/grow-out farms until they reach market weight.

PIC genetics reduces greenhouse gas emissions

PIC has investigated whether its genetics are a valid way to achieve environmental goals. The company has worked completed the composite life cycle assessment in Europe and has confirmed that a fully PIC genetics pig (sire + dam) delivers a 7.7% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to the average. Continuous genetic improvement will lead to an additional reduction of 0.66% per year. 

Medgene’s vaccine production technology is licensed by USDA 

Animal health vaccine manufacturer Medgene announces that it is ready to address critical disease challenges facing the animal health industry. Utilising its production platform process, Medgene has unlocked the genetic information needed to create vaccines to address H5N1 in dairy cattle, PCV-4 in swine and aMPV in turkey production.

New safer weaner range supports digestive health and reduces medication costs AAF

British pig and poultry feed manufacturer ABN reports that the latest product developments across its ABN Delta Nutrio pig range are showing promising dual benefits of maintaining performance and reducing medication costs and impacts, following the phasing out of zinc from pig starter diets. It began developing and trialling a range of 4 diets, lower in protein and kinder on the digestive system of pigs. Trials have gone well and the results have started to be replicated with on-farm/commercial trials underway. 

Weltec Biopower builds biomethane plant in England

German manufacturer Weltec Biopower has been commissioned by the English recycling company Eco Sustainable Solutions to build a biomethane plant. The plant is located near Bournemouth Airport in the south of England. Eco Sustainable will operate the plant itself and fill the stainless steel tanks with household waste and agricultural residues from nearby businesses and its own farms.

Veos Group acquires OvaInnovations’ operations AAF PW

Veos Group has acquired the activities of OvaInnovations, a US-based producer of inedible egg powder. The company’s Actipro brand, known for functional proteins that promote animal health and nutrition, will benefit, specifically, and can increase production efficiency and expand its offerings to feed and pet food clients.
