Coming soon at VIV Asia: Seminar on gut health in pigs

Pig Progress will be present at VIV Asia 2025 with 2 seminars to address topical issues in swine production. The theme of “gut health” will get attention in a seminar that will be held on March 12 at 4pm in room Jupiter 7 at the Impact showgrounds in Bangkok, Thailand.

In a seminar of roughly 90 minutes, 4 expert speakers will delve into the topic of gut health, addressing various aspects of the issue.

Asst Prof Dr Alongkot Boonsoongnern, Kasetsart University, Thailand

Asst Prof Dr Alongkot Boonsoongnern, attached to Kasetsart University in Thailand will kick off the seminar. He will explain the importance of gut health. Furthermore, he will explain how that plays a role in reducing the levels of antibiotic usage in the South East Asian country. He will highlight proper gilt and sow management as well as creep feed intake in that context, as well as the correlation between gut microbiota and intestinal alkaline phosphatase.

 

Yoko Noguchi, IFF

Secondly, Yoko Noguchi will address the audience. She is technical service manager North Asia for feed additives company IFF. She will discuss boosting piglet performance through optimal pig health. Furthermore, she will explain how the use of probiotics can result in a balanced gut microbiota.

 

 

 

Dr Rutger Jansen, Boehringer Ingelheim

Next will be Dr Rutger Jansen, technical service manager at Boehringer Ingelheim animal health. He shall spend attention to vaccination using gel – a novel way for swine mass immunisation. In the presentation, Jansen explains how oral vaccination can be applied in an easy and fast by using a gel before weaning.
