Vietnam: Establishing largest meat processing unit

There are plans underway for Vietnam to establish the biggest meat processing complex in the country.

According to a report by VOVNews, The Vissan Co. Ltd., has been given a licence to invest VND700 billion in the meat processing complex which will be set up on Luong Binh commune, Ben Luc district, southern Long An province.

It is expected that the building of the complex will occur next year and the complex is scheduled to be up and running by 2012.

Market supply
Annually, the market will see a supply of approximately 38,000- 40,000 tonnes of pork, 4,600-5,000 tonnes of cattle products, 8,000-10,000 tonnes of poultry products and 71,000-75,000 tonnes of processing food, the report stated.

The new newly planned 22.4ha complex will have:
– An abattoir for 360 pigs, 35 head of cattle, 2000 head of poultry per hour
– A food processing system for 1,200 tonnes of Chinese sausage, 12,500 tonnes of tinned food, 45,500 tonnes of hot dogs and 2,000 tonnes of pork pie per year.
