UK supermarket recalls pork pies
Vale of Mowbray snack pork pies (four pack) by Morrisons have been recalled.
According the UK’s Food Standards Agency the recall came about because the pork products may contain small pieces of blue plastic.
The product being recalled is:
· Morrisons’ Vale of Mowbray snack pork pies (four pack)
· Use by: 24 February 2011
The major supermarket is recalling the affected pork pies from consumers, and shelf edge notices are being displayed in stores explaining to customers why the product is being recalled. Consumers who purchased this product should not consume it but should return the product to their nearest store for a full refund.
No other Morrisons products are known to be affected.
Wm Morrison Supermarkets plc is the fourth largest chain of supermarkets in the United Kingdom, headquartered in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. Morrisons’ market share as of December 2008 was 11.8%, making it the smallest of the “Big Four” supermarkets, behind Tesco (30.9%), Asda (16.8%) and Sainsbury’s (16%), but far ahead of the fifth place Co-operative Group, which had a share of 4.4%.
