U.S pork exports decrease

It is reported that the first five months of this year saw U.S pork exports decrease by 3% year-on-year.

The U.S Department of Commerce revealed that exports to Mexico and Russia plummeted – Mexico dropped by 30% so far in 2007, while exports to Russia fell just over 23%.

Despite the drop in exports to Mexico and Russia, there was growth in other foreign markets such as Japan (11.5%), South Korea (3.1%) and Canada (2.5%), where exports from the U.S amounted to 1.3 billion pounds of pork in the first five month of the year.
