Tesco is demanding compensation from its pig meat suppliers for the loss of profits arising from the recent recall of pork products, according to the Irish Sunday Business Post.
The retailer written to all its major suppliers of pork products, in an attempt to recoup lost profit for the period of the pork recall. The letter has caused anger among pork suppliers, with most of the major suppliers informing Tesco that they were unwilling to pay the compensation. A spokesman for Tesco Ireland said the retailer had no comment to make regarding its relationships with suppliers.
