23-10-2007 | |

Ruurd Stolp will become president of the combined animal health unit once the pharmaceutical giants Schering-Plough and Intervet merge.

Stolp is currently CEO at the Dutch pharmaceutical company Intervet, based in Boxmeer, the Netherlands.

In March this year, Schering-Plough announced it would acquire the Dutch pharmaceutical company Organon, including its animal health division Intervet.

It was also announced that the new division’s headquarters would be based in Boxmeer, but the unit will retain a strong position in the North American market.

It is unclear yet what will be the new name for the combined animal health division.

Both companies are now waiting for clearance for the acquisition by the Federal Trade Commission. It is expected this will be given before the end of 2007.
