South Korea: More cases of Foot-and-Mouth disease

Despite quarantine efforts, South Korea confirms three more cases of Foot-and-Mouth disease (FMD).

According to the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries two cases of FMD were found at small cattle farms in Asan and Gongju, south of Seoul, and another discovery was made at a pig farm in Pohang south east of Seoul.
 
Billions of US dollars in losses
The farm ministry has stated that 2.3 million livestock thus far have been slaughtered since the outbreak was confirmed on Nov. 29 last year, with losses amounting to more than 2 trillion won (1.78 billion U.S. dollars).
