21-03-2007 | |

Saskatoon, Canada, is getting ready for some hot pig topics in pork production, to be discussed at next week’s Focus on the Future Conference.

The 7th annual conference, to be held March 27 and 28, attracts pork producers and their suppliers from across western Canada seeking practical solutions to production challenges.

The conference has international caliber speakers in the areas of maximising throughput in pig production systems and optimising the cost of production.

Throughput

On Tuesday, March 27, Dr Jim Lowe will be one of the speakers.

Lowe, director of health and production services for The Maschhoffs – one of the ten largest pork producers in North America – will speak about ‘Maximising throughput in the production system’.

Optimising

One day later, topics focus on ‘Optimising the costs of production’.

The programme includes presentations on balancing costs and revenue within the production systems, management of large groups, impact of energy efficiency, and focusing on ingredient valuation.
