Roughly 600 pigs will be culled in southern Russia to prevent further spread of the African swine fever virus, which was detected last week in the Stavropol Region, a spokesperson for the regional governor said on Friday.
Following the outbreak Ukraine has banned pork imports from the affected region. Also, Azerbaijan’s State Veterinary Service has imposed a ban on meat-related imports from Russia. The State Veterinary Service said the temporary restriction measure applies to animal products, feedings and food additives.
