The villagers from the Strandzha region in Bulgaria have protested against the slaughter of 7000 animals.

Currently there are fears over Foot-and-Mouth disease (FMD) spreading. Goliamo Bukovo, Fakia and Momina Tsarkva villages near the town of Sredets have been found to have FMD. Locals have called for a protest near Fakia on Saturday.

The villagers protested saying that th culling of the animals will strip them of their livelihood. There is also fear that the restoration of herds will not occur which will leave the Strandzha region desolate.
