Prizes worth over £5000 in Pfizer Trainee Awards

Trainees in the pig and poultry industries have the opportunity to compete for more than £5000 worth of prizes in the 2010 Pfizer Trainee of the Year Awards, organised in conjunction with the journals Pig World and Poultry World.

Not only does each winner benefit from a £2000 training grant, he or she receives a £500 cash prize and trophy during a prestigious ceremony at the House of Commons with hotel accommodation in central London provided by the sponsors Pfizer Animal Health.

Last year’s awards were presented by Jim Fitzpatrick, Minister for Farming and the Environment, to Georgina Cherrill who works on an Ermine Farms pig breeder unit near Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, and to Andrew Hall who began his career in the hatchery with P D Hook in Lincolnshire and then chose to switch to one of the firm’s breeder farms providing the hatching eggs.

Anyone who is developing their skills through on-the-job NVQ training can enter, and there is no age limit. The deadline for entries is July 16 for the poultry award and July 30 for the pig award.©
