Approximately 200 kilos of tainted (botcha) pork meat was seized by authorities in Manila.
According to the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), they were tipped that the meat would be dropped off at the Paco Market. The meat was discovered in a sack at the market in Manila’s Paco District early this morning.
Dr. Rolando Marquez of the NMIS has stated that more of these kind of incidences are expected where there will be attampts of getting tainted meat to markets as Christmas season is just around the corner.
No arrests has thus far been made.
** ‘Botcha meat’ is meat which comes from pigs that died from disease which are illegally cut up for sale.
