The Russian food inspection agency, Rosselkhoznadzor, has announced on Tuesday that African swine fever has been detected in wild pigs in Chechnya.

The disease is reported to have originated from Georgia where wild boars had been roaming some 30-40km within Georgian territory.

Biosecurity measures have been stepped up in response, according to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
