New CSF outbreak in Croatia
Croatia has been hit by a new outbreak of classical swine fever (CSF), the country’s agricultural ministry reported last Sunday.
Some 3,600 pigs will have to be slaughtered to prevent the spread of the disease.
Agriculture ministry spokesman Mladen Pavic said that the country’s veterinary institute confirmed the presence of the virus at a farm near the eastern town of Dalj, in Osijek-Baranja County, where some 100 pigs have died so far.
Another outbreak of CSF in Croatia was contained in July. That outbreak led to the slaughter of approximately 2,500 pigs.
