According to Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) a new outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) was registered on 9 December in the private sector of Kirsanovka village in the Orenburg region in Russia near the border with Kazakhstan.
Also, Aktobe, Atyrau and the west Kazakhstan regions of Kazakhstan bordering the Orenburg region of Russia was instructed to tighten control over the movement of controlled goods. Disinfection barriers have also been put in place at the customs terminals.
According to estimates the new ban will cause the volume of pork imports in Kazakhstan from Russia to decrease by 40% compared to last years level.
