Japan steps up meat orders from Thailand

Following the deadly earthquake and tsunami in Japan, in a bid to secure needed food supplies, Japanese food traders and importers have been placing more meat orders in Thailand.

Betagro, which has had a long-standing relationship and partnership in various meat products, mainly chicken and pork with Sumitomo, Ajinomoto, Mitsubishi and Itoham, has received purchase orders to ensure that Japan’s food supplies will be available, reports Betagro chief operating officer  Vasit Taepaisitphongse.
