The research centre at Iowa State University Bilsland Memorial Farm will be dedicated to Lauren Christian next week.

The dedication will take place on May 8, 2007.

“Lauren Christian conducted much of his research at the Bilsland Farm and it is appropriate that the research centre be named in his honor,” says Maynard Hogberg, chair of the Iowa State animal science department.

Professor
The late Lauren Christian, a native of LaPorte City, Iowa, was a professor of agriculture in animal science. He was an internationally recognised expert in pig genetics, well-known teacher and the first director of the Iowa Pork Industry Center at Iowa State.

A university faculty member for 33 years, Christian also was a consultant for private and corporate firms associated with pork production. He died just under 20 years ago.
