Meat inspectors on duty in a Philippine slaughterhouse in Angeles City have discovered 110 kg of infected pigmeat last week.
The samples were infected by Classical Swine Fever and Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS).
The infections were found out during the ante-mortem inspection.
Inspectors found out that the hog meat had ‘severe laboured breathing recumbent, purplish and reddish discoloration on the rump, underbelly and ears’.
Public market
A spokesperson of the slaughterhouse said the meat was intended to be sold in the city’s public market. He added the meat ‘can cause illnesses’ to people who could have bought and consumed it.
For the past three months, meat inspectors have condemned nearly 900 kg of pigmeat and carcasses not fit for human consumption.
