Growth repressing effect of ZinPot on E.coli pathogenic strains

In late August, about 1000 participants came from more than 40 countries to the Annual Meeting of the European Association of Animal Production in Stavanger, Norway.

Animine took this opportunity to present recent experimental data conducted at the Free University of Berlin (Institute of Animal Nutrition, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine). The study compared ZinPot, a new potentiated source of zinc for piglets, to analytical grade zinc oxide.

Their effect on the growth of two pathogenic strains of fimbriated Escherichia coli was measured at sub-inhibitory Zn concentrations.

The experiment showed a significantly higher growth repressing effect of ZinPot vs regular zinc oxide. ZinPot is a new dietary tool to substitute to pharmacological dosage of standard ZnO in the critical post weaning phase of piglets.
