French farmers making losses of €30 per pig

According to the pig section of the regional branch of farmers organisation (FNSEA) in Brittany, French pig farmers are currently losing €30 per pig.

At the leading pig market in the country – Marché du Porc Breton (MPB) in Plérin – pigs were being sold last week for €1.149 per kilo.


Export support
However, according to industry leaders, the costs for the pig farmers have risen to €1.57 per kilogramme. The French pig industry has called on Brussels to provide more support to the sale of European pork to Asian countries.
