European feed manufacturers produced 1.2% less pig feed in 2005, in comparison to the year before. Altogether 47.3 million tonnes of pig feed were produced.
Despite the decrease, pig feed remains the feed sector’s number one product.
These figures appear in a report of the European Feed Manufacturers Federation (FEFAC).
In the whole feed sector, a downward tendency could be seen. Altogether the companies manufactured 143.3 million tonnes of animal feed last year – a 0.8% year-on-year decrease.
Production of poultry feed dropped the most – a fall of 1.7% to a total of 46.0 tonnes.
Cattle feed only decreased slightly – a 0.3% drop to 38.0 million tonnes.
