Danish pork processor expands in Germany
The Danish Tulip Food Company has bought the Nietfeld Group in Dinklage, Germany, as from January 1, 2010, according to the German paper Oldenburgische Volkszeitung.
It is unclear how much Tulip, part of the Danish Crown Group, has paid for the take-over. The Danish company produces a number of food products, e.g. bacon, sausages, soups and ready-meals.
Nietfield has 238 employees and a turnover of approximately €58 million. Tulip has about 2,000 employees and an annual turnover of €700 million.
Perfect fit
Tulip chairman Flemming Enevoldsen was quoted to say: “Both companies are a perfect fit. Both have a good name, based on high-quality products and excellent customer contact.”
All 238 employees can stay – and an expansion of the Dinklage plant is planned. Tulip had already production plants in Schüttorf and Oldenburg, both in the West of the country. There are also two more contract companies in the cities of Düsseldorf and Kiel.
