Danish pork exports increased in 2006

The Danish Meat Association reported that pork exports increased from €3.6 billion in 2005 to €3.8 billion last year.

“The past year was quite good since prices have been increasing worldwide and Danish pork producers were able to carve out a nice slice of the pie,” Bent Claudi Lassen, chairman of the Danish Meat Association, said.

All over the world
Danish pigs are increasingly supplying the world’s pork needs, he said. “Because we sell all over the world, we are able to make good use of different parts of the pig in places where they have a tradition for enjoying it.”

Danish pork producers sent a total of 1,850,000 tonnes of pork abroad last year, according to DMA figures.
