A small group of Danish pig farmers have bought 45,000 hectares of land in Russia and are in the process of setting up the largest Danish-owned farming operation abroad.
According to the Jyllands Posten, the investment company Dan-Rus Agro consists of four Russian and four Danish investors. The aim of the project is to produce 1.5 billion slaughter pigs per year from 20,000 sows.
The company is also involved in the Polish company Poldanor, which produces 16,000 sows on 15,000 hectares.
