Danish Crown and Tulip help raise half a million kroner for Japanese catastrophe

Almost 4,000 employees at Danish Crown and Tulip took part in a fundraising campaign to help victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

Contributions poured in from departments in Denmark and abroad, with employees collecting a total of DKK 214,443. CEO Kjeld Johannesen is both pleased and impressed.

”I am delighted that so many colleagues have given a thought to the many thousands of families affected by the catastrophe in Japan, and I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone for their contribution,” says Kjeld Johannesen.
He continues: ”Danish Crown has decided to round
up the amount raised by the campaign to half a million Danish kroner. The money will now be transferred to Danish Red Cross, who will make sure that it goes to fund important voluntary aid work in Japan,” says Kjeld Johannesen.

Thanks from Japan
In Japan, the results of the fundraising campaign were also gratefully received by Danish Crown’s sales office in Tokyo, where four Japanese employees work with Managing Director Erik Lauritsen.

”It goes without saying that our Japanese colleagues are proud of what Danish Crown is doing. They are well aware that their colleagues have been thinking about them and expressed their sympathy – and it’s not just empty words. I am certain that this support reflects the close relations we have enjoyed for many years, and also results from the significant exchange of staff we have seen – with Danes working in Japan and Japanese employees who have been to Denmark,” says Erik Lauritsen.

”It is very impressive that almost 4,000 people have generously supported the initiative,” he says.

The fundraising event was run at Danish Crown’s Danish departments as well as at the foreign departments which process Danish pork.
