Danish Crown says slaughterings in the Blans abattoir, damaged by fire earlier this month, can only re-start in eight to twelve weeks time.
The Danish cooperative announced this after a check up. The abattoir in the Danish town of Blans was damaged heavily by a fire on April 16th.
About 8,500 slaughtered pigs were lost in the blaze. The slaughterline itself was only damaged by smoke and water.
For the moment, the cooperative has managed to increase the capacities in other slaughterhouses close by to keep up with demands.
In addition, about 4,000 to 6,000 animals have to be sold to German processors.
It is not known what has caused the fire.
