CSF reported in South Bosnia

27-03-2007 | |

Several cases of Classical Swine Fever (CSF) have been registered in the villages of Jara and Biograci in the Bosnian region of Siroki Brijeg.

This news was broadcasted on the Bosnian public broadcaster BHTV1 last week.

According to the region’s veterinary station, there is no CSF epidemic, with just fifteen pigs having been culled on a preventative basis.

Speculation
However, there is speculation that this is not an isolated case and that around 30 pigs purchased from Bijeljina-based buyers have died in the region, BBC Monitoring European reports.

The disease has been showing up at several places at the Balkan region, especially in Croatia.
