The use of the by product dried distiller grains with solubles (DDGS) is not environmentally friendly, according to research presented at the First International Ammonia Congress in the Netherlands.
When feeding DDGS, the animals produces more ammonia and also hydrogen sulfide (H2S) production can be eight times higher than feeding no DDGS.
The conference was held on 19, 20 and 21 March 2007 and was organised by Wageningen University and Research Centre (the Netherlands) and the University of Kiel (Germany).
