About 220,000 sows are currently in production on a number of farms in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Jiangsu, Hubei, Anhui, Fuijan and Sichuan provinces. The Guangdong Wens group is involved in broiler, hog, dairy cow farming, aquaculture production, food processing and animal health products. The Wens group also has a pig processing plant which processes about 1 million pigs per year.

The FIRE System automates the measurement and collection of individual animal feed intake and growth performance. Each individual pig is tagged with a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag and the tag is read by an antenna located in the FIRE Feeder, and feed intake and animal weight are recorded.

The FIRE Feeder installation is planned for May of 2010 on two farms in Guangdong province. Guangdong Huanong Wens initially purchased 30 FIRE Feeders in March of 2008.

With the addition of the new FIRE Feeders, approximately 10,000 pigs can be tested each year. The FIRE System was selected because of Osborne Industries’ commitment to providing quality products, support after the purchase and superior service by knowledgeable support staff located in China. The FIRE System was sold and installed by Osborne Livestock Technology Company, a subsidiary company of Osborne Industries, Inc. located in Shanghai, China.

The FIRE System is manufactured by Osborne Industries, Inc., in Osborne, Kansas, USA.
