According to Federal Deputy Luis Carlos Heinze, spokesperson for the meeting, each independent pig farmer is losing from R$50 to R$80 per animal. “We risk losing a large number of farmers throughout Brazil. To avoid this situation we will discuss with the minister ways of helping them keep active,” he emphasised.

Among the items claimed are the immediate suspension of debt payments and the extension of the debts by up to 10 years, besides the creation of a credit line for retention of matrices.
