Brazil faces another CSF outbreak

Brazil is suffering from another outbreak of Classical Swine Fever (CSF).

The outbreak occurred in a pig production site in the state of Ceará, not fear from Caucaia in the North East part of the country.


The last outbreak of CSF in Brazil happened at June 2nd, 2006.


Consequences


Contagious outbreaks in livestock recently have had severe consequences, as a 2006 Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak caused the country to be struck by severe meat export bans, to including the European Union.
