At a pig farm in Darivka Rodionovo village, the Rostov Region about 30 pigs were found dead on 9 August. The selected pathological material from the dead pigs had been sent to the Rostov regional veterinary laboratory, stated in the regional department for the prevention and elimination of emergencies.
Rostov regional search and rescue services have also been involved in the process of eliminating the effects of ASF. Currently, they are organising quarantine stations at major highways.
In late July, first deputy prime minister Viktor Zubkov at a meeting of government commission on agriculture said that the situation with African Swine Fever in Russia has not improved: “The disease has gone beyond the boundaries of southern Russia and has already spread to the Central and North-West districts.” It is the second outbreak of dangerous disease in the last week, the previous was in the Krasnodar region where it has already been registered with five ASF outbreaks since the beginning of the year.
