82,000 pigs infected with blue ear disease

Nearly 82,000 pigs in Vietnam’s two central provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh and northern Thanh Hoa province have been infected since last month with Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS), known as blue ear disease.


The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has asked local relevant agencies to kill all infected pigs to prevent the spread of the disease; the ministry’s Department of Animal Health was cited as saying.
