A more targeted approach when treating pig diseases is in line with the sector-wide strategy to promote safe pork for consumers. In recent years the pharmaceutical industry has contributed to this commitment with the introduction of the single shot therapy. A new series in Pig Progress is going to investigate the science behind the single shot and make an assessment of the pros and cons for veterinarians and producers. But first, a Danish veterinary consultant outlines on-farm opportunities aiming to limit the level of unnecessary treatments against disease.
