Foot-and-Mouth Disease in Jiangsu, China
China’s Jiangsu province has been struck by Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD).
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, 12 pigs have started to display symptoms of FMD at a food firm, t he pigs were being transported.
Lab results have shown that FMD was indeed present in the pigs. The pigs were confirmed to have type O FMD.
Measures carried out
Officials have taken steps in order to halt the spread of the disease. The infected area has been sealed off and infected animals have been culled, stated the Ministry of Agriculture.
