Flu threats to pigs from avian reservoir

So far, H5N1 hasn’t created mass panic among pig farmers. Some significant changes in avian influenza over the last decade, however, have touched on pigs when the animals were in the very close vicinity of infected birds – not spreading readily between pigs. Infection history emphasises the importance of ongoing surveillance programmes to enable early detection.
