Classical Swine Fever in Colombia

The World Organisation for Animal Health has reported that in Colombia, Classical Swine Fever (CSF) has been found in Urumita, La Guajira .

CSF was found at a backyard pig farm. The affected animals are 3 females and 3 males three-month-old without current vaccination against CSF. The outbreak was reported by the owner and it is limited to this farm as no other cases have been reported.



Active epidemiological surveillance is carried out in a 5-km radius zone around the outbreak and in a 5-km surveillance zone, while daily follow-up inspections. Vaccination is forbidden in this zone since 31 May 2013.



All 6 animals have died.
