John Htoo Director Technical Consultancy – swine, Evonik Nutrition & Care

John Htoo obtained his doctorate degree (Dr. sc. agr.) from the Georg-August University, Goettingen, Germany in 2003 with a specialisation in non-ruminant nutrition. After serving as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow from 2004 to 2006 at the University of Alberta, Canada focusing on amino acids and energy nutrition in swine, he joined Evonik Animal Nutrition as a global research manager swine in 2007, and was responsible for management of swine research activities in collaboration with leading researchers at various universities worldwide. His main research focused on amino acid and energy nutrition, which includes the determination of amino acids requirements, ideal protein ratios, ileal amino acids digestibility, interaction of immune status and nutrition, development of advanced feeding concepts to improve gut health and production efficiency of pigs. Since January 2018, he has taken a global role as Director technical Consultancy (Global Expert Swine) within the organization and responsible for providing technical supports and trainings related to swine nutrition and feeding concepts, transferring research data to practical solutions. He is also heading a team of swine nutritionists located in different regions. Since January 2020, he has taken an additional role as Technical Support for the application of gut health solutions. As author and co-author, he has contributed 135 peer-reviewed journal articles, 140 conference proceedings, 12 technical review articles, 22 magazine articles, and 9 invited keynote presentations.
