At its annual ONE Ideas Conference, animal health and nutrition company Alltech honoured its recently deceased founder and president Dr Pearse Lyons with several awards.

Dr Lyons, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 73, was awarded the company’s ‘Medal of Excellence’ as well as the company’s ‘Humanitarian Award’. Both were handed over to his wife Deirdre Lyons and his son, Mark Lyons on the opening day of the conference, which was held in Lexington, KY, United States, between 20-22 May, 2018.

Yeast fermentation for the animal feed industry

Dr Pearse Lyons received the Medal of Excellence for his work as a visionary scientist. He utilised his scientific expertise in yeast fermentation and his business sense to change the animal feed industry through the introduction of natural ingredients to animal feed.

He was also recognised with the Alltech Humanitarian Award for his philanthropic spirit. The award is usually bestowed annually to someone of strong character who uses their platform to positively influence and inspire those around them.
