The moment of weaning has always been a critical moment in a pig’s life. Many things change at the same time, quite often this leads to weaning related health issues. For decades, solutions like antibiotic growth promoters or zinc oxide have suppressed those problems, yet modern times increasingly ask for modern solutions. So once again the question is: what are the causes of these health problems around weaning, and can we think of novel and innovative solutions to help piglets develop without any problems?
