For the first nine months of 2014 Russia produced 1.18 million tonnes of pork which is nearly 17% higher than the same period of the previous year, this is according to Russian media Soya News, referring to the official static data.
The report added that in September of 2014, Russia produced 138,400 tonnes of pork including offal – which is 4% more than in the previous month, and 17.9% more than in September of 2013.
The report indicates that the Russian embargo on food import implemented in August had a heavy impact on the country’s pork market, resulting in the market facing a sharp deficit in pork production. This situation probably will stimulate a further growth in production volumes.
