Pork processor Plumrose hopes to open new ham facility in Iowa

Plumrose USA, a subsidiary of Danish food company Danish Crown, hopes to construct a new ham slicing and packaging plant in Council Bluffs, Iowa – which is a twin city to Omaha, Nebraska.

The construction of the 9,290 m2 large plant (100,000 square foot) would create 100 jobs, reports the Omaha World-Herald.

Financial assistance
The processor received a ‘thumbs-up’ this week when the Council Bluffs city council supported the company in its attempt to find financial assistance for the estimated $60 million project, the newspaper reported.

Plumrose, which began in 1932 as a sliced ham company, processes packaged meat products such as sliced deli meats, bacon, barbecued ribs and canned meats.
